Museum

What started as a selection of historic photos in the back entrance foyer, turned more and more into a little museum, covering the history of Maltahoehe and its inhabitants. Contributions in the form of old furniture, tools, all sorts of implements, trophies and other goods, from guests, inhabitants of the district and other parties, soon poured in and makes the place worth a visit. A permanent exhibition of the SWAKARA Karakul industry, which helped Maltahoehe to be one of the more prosperous districts in Namibia in the 20th centutury, is in the planning and will soon be finished. Due to a grant by the monument commission the owners will soon be able to restore the old officers house, located behind the hotel and built in 1900, to its former glory and incorporate it in the museum.
